Program Description:
This weeklong retreat is a holistic experience that provides participants with a very practical tool - a more conscious use of language - to improve understanding of self and others. Ordinary language is very black and white. Built on dualistic distinctions (e.g. good / bad, right / wrong, etc), these judgments stimulate fear - which then leads to the human fight / flight response. As a result, we tend to hide who we are, defend ourselves, and fight to be `right'. Such behaviors can make it challenging to have successful and lasting relationships. With the practice of `Percept Language' - a more conscious way of using language - one accepts that there is more than one way of perceiving things; there is a continual awareness that everyone creates meaning differently. This understanding allows one to leave behind conflict, reactivity, stress, and need to control others. As a result one experiences greater choice, clarity, confidence, and ease in relationship.
