Retreat Center Communal Spaces

Communal Spaces

Ocamora’s retreat facilities consist of over 20,000 square feet of indoor living space. Handcrafted adobe and wood frame buildings reflect a unique charm and a sense of rustic elegance. The facility is ideal for small groups of between 12 – 21 people.

Ranch House and Kitchen

The original building is an adobe ranch house over 130 years old. It has been renovated and now serves as the main country kitchen, office space, and dining area for smaller groups. A spacious outdoor veranda to the east extends summer dining and relaxation.

Dining Hall | Art Pavilion

This spacious structure serves as either a dining hall for larger groups or as an art space. It is a high and airy wood structure with passive solar design, supplemental wood stove, comfortable furniture, and commercial sinks. A covered veranda with tables and rocking chairs offers extended possibilities for outdoor living. This common space provides the strongest wifi connection for guests.

Meditation Hall

The primary group meeting space is designed to host 12-24 participants with ease. This large room (22″ x 35″) has well-kept pine floors, a fireplace, adjacent bathroom, and foyer with benches (for removing shoes at the threshold).

The Meditation Hall is appointed with a beautiful oriental carpet, yoga mats, zafus, backjacks, pillows and lightweight blankets. Lightweight chairs are available for those who need more support.

Cloisters Courtyard | Library

The Cloisters area is characterized by the welcoming warmth of adobe, featuring a covered outdoor seating area featuring a beautiful kiva fireplace.

Massage | Treatment Rooms

Private spaces are available upon request of workshop leaders to serve as massage/treatment rooms for bodywork. One treatment space is in the Cloisters greenhouse. The Library is also used for bodywork sessions on occasion. Ocamora may or may not have a somatic therapist in residence. Practitioners provide all their own equipment, tools, and linens. Ocamora does not supply those items and laundry facilities are limited.

Hot Tub

Guests are welcome to luxuriate in the very private outdoor redwood hot tub that is surrounded by a wooden deck with a glorious view of the mountainside. Groups can make their own decisions about clothing optional or coed bathing. Towels are available in the hot tub area.

Garden

Ocamora draws on a hoop house and small greenhouse to help supplement delicious, healthy leafy greens during the summer months. Most Ocamora cooks have strong relationships with local farmer’s markets in Santa Fe, Las Vegas, and Mora and attempt to provide as much farm to table food as possible.

Shower House and Outhouse Toilets

In the Orchard area guests share Shower House and several well maintained outhouses. Each outhouse offers privacy and a battery operated lantern for visitations after dark.
